![]() This allows you to recycle many cages quickly, freeing them up for reuse in cage traps in minimal time. Mass pitting refers to pitting many caged creatures at one time without having to build each cage and link it to a lever. Please view the Bugs section for details. ![]() If you really want to get paranoid, build a few traps around the bottom bridge, just in case. This feature has one or more outstanding bugs. Reclaim what you need to at the bottom, and send the rest down into the pit. If nasties DO manage to fly through the half-a-ton of garbage you send flying at them up into the chute, just dump another half-a-ton of stone and big heavy things on top of them. The rest of it remains on the bottom bridge a quick double-pull sends the remains the rest of the way down and closes the chute before any nasties can fly up through. After that, I usually examine the pulp sometimes you can salvage armor/weapons, bones, or other parts from the wreckage. Then pull the top lever again to close up the chute. ![]() Pile all the junk on the top bridge, pull the "top" lever, and send it all falling down to splat on the bottom bridge. The way I get around that problem is to build two small retractable bridges - one near the top of your chute and one near the bottom - and a couple levers linked up to each one separately. And it's totally worth it: stuff just vanishes by itself, FPS stays high, you can easily dispose of anything and everything, and it works perfectly well without any contact with the surface. All you need to do is build a drawbridge that lowers onto a single tile of ground. The channels lead to the smasher to destroy the stuff. You channel out the floor and cover with hatches, attached to another set of pressure plates.
